Hello, I'm Sandy Wong, the founder of the Modern PlaySpace. I have a background as a licensed child development specialist and hold a Master's degree in early childhood education and special education from Fordham University in New York. I have 15+ years working with children in schools, at homes, and on site doing early intervention. I strive to provide excellent service to families to support their child’s needs at home and at school. With extensive experience working with children in various settings including one-on-one, social playgroups, and classrooms, my main focus is on promoting early childhood development and learning through play in San Francisco. the Modern PlaySpace, established in 2019, is a state-of-the-art studio located in the SOMA/Downtown area.
We are a licensed childcare facility and therapy center that provides high-quality bilingual language immersion programs for children in San Francisco in the early childhood development and special education range (birth to second grade). Our top priority is creating a safe and clean environment for children to thrive. At the Modern PlaySpace Preschool, we specialize in working with all children, including those with special needs. We offer playgroups in Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, and English, providing a rich language learning experience. Our dedicated teachers and therapists focus on the overall well-being and development of each child, with an emphasis on learning through play.
We address various aspects of early childhood development at our San Francisco facility, such as cognitive, language, social-emotional, gross/fine motor, and self-help skills. We genuinely care about the children under our care and actively encourage their exploration through play. Our playgroups typically consist of four to eight children and run for three hours, six hours, or nine hours per session/day. While we follow a structured schedule, we always remain flexible to accommodate the unique needs of each group.

Learning through play is an effective and enjoyable way to acquire knowledge and skills. It involves engaging in activities that are designed to be both educational and entertaining. By incorporating play into learning, individuals can explore concepts, solve problems, develop creativity, and enhance social skills. Whether it's art activities, interactive apps, role-playing, or hands-on experiments, the process of play can foster curiosity, critical thinking, and overall cognitive development. It's a wonderful approach for children and even adults to learn and grow in a fun and engaging manner. Is there a specific topic or aspect of learning through play you'd like to know more about?
