The goals and objectives of the playgroups include supporting children with their overall child development. Through the playgroups, our San Francisco play-based learning will focus primarily on development of language, social-emotional, gross and fine motor, self-help, and cognitive skills. Some examples of topics to be covered will include but are not limited to vegetables and fruits, nutrition, culture, feelings and emotions, All About Me, counting, letters, colors, shapes, weather, animals, vehicles, and community helpers. These topics will be covered through songs and rhymes and small group activities.  An example include: (for the topic of vegetables and fruits) – reading a book about vegetables and fruits during circle time, singing songs and rhymes related to this topic, and having an interactive component with the children during circle time. We will then have small group activities related to the topic out for the children in a variety of areas.

The playgroup staff to child ratio at our San Francisco child care center will be 1 therapist to 2 children (1:2) or 1 therapist to 3 children (1:3)

The length of time and frequency of each group session will be 3 hours, 6 hours, or 9 hours each session per day or 1-3 times a week.

The location of our EI social playgroups is at 250 Clara St. #5 San Francisco, CA 94107.

There will also be a parent education component where parents are encouraged to connect with therapists after playgroup sessions. Our San Francisco therapists will train and coach families and caregivers to educate them with techniques to help support their children with their developmental growth as well as meeting their children’s milestones. We will have handouts for parents as well to help support and educate them about child development.
